"But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence." -Jeremiah 17:7 NLT
I love the book of Jeremiah. Jeremiah was a prophet, so when I read this book of the Bible I know that what is written will come to pass if it has not already. In verses 5 and 6 of chapter 17 Jeremiah proclaims that those of us who put our trust in "mere humans" and rely on human strength will be cursed. Let's be honest, we all put our trust in humans and humans put their trust in us. The point I believe Jeremiah is making in this verse, is that we are doomed if we place the abilities and capabilities of another person at a higher value than our God. Think about it, if everything you ever needed could be given to you by way of another person, why wouldn't God just equip you with it? After all, we are all made up of the same matter.
My advice this month is simple, be confident in God. To have confidence means to have a feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; firm trust. It's also described as having self- assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities. Imagine how less stressful of a life you'd lead if you'd simply relied on God! Reading the Bible and developing an appreciation for God's abilities and qualities. His resume is impressive! I know that it's easier said than done. I understand that God's strength doesn't always feel tangible. But before Jesus ascended into heaven, He promised us an advocate, the Holy Spirit who dwells in each of us. He is there. Waiting. Listening. All that is required of us is trust, hope and confidence. Your blessing is waiting for you on the other side of your confidence.
