Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
1 Corinthians 13:8
Love never fails. It's simple. As Paul instructs us on how to exhibit love-like behavior to a standard that is pleasing to God, he lets us know the reward of doing such- unfailing love. Earlier in the chapter Paul states that we as believers have been gifted spiritually. Such gifts have been uniquely assigned to us from our Heavenly Father. He further states that without love, a gift so precious is seemingly useless in the effort to draw souls toward the kingdom. Paul reveals here in verse 8 why the component of love is so vital.
Paul explains there will come a time where the ability to use our gifts will cease. Our voices will weaken, our limbs will be less limber, our neurons won't fire at the same speed. But love will prevail against time. Living in this world, it's imperative that we as a chosen people and Holy Nation do not act of this world. This means not yielding to the sinful nature of what our flesh desires. We should strive to share the gifts given to us by the Holy Spirit. Not hold them for ransom, or use them as leverage for self-advancement. Paul says our gifts, those talents that we've placed on pedestals will soon fade. But a spirit of love is unfailing. It is written that the flesh will become dust but our spirits will return to the Father. Make today the day you vow to intentionally nourish your soul through acts of love. Pray that your spirit be cleansed and saturated in unfailing love.
