Tea for your soul

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah."

Grace

Dear Lord,
I pray for every sister that is afraid to walk in your gracious light. I pray that whatever shadows are casting over her, you remove and let your light shine through her. Let her recognize that her dwelling place is in the favor of your kingdom. Allow her to reap fruit in dry places. May she seek you always no matter the circumstances in her life. Build in her a soul that is impenetrable to the weapons of this world.
Amen

Perseverance

Dear Lord,
I want to thank you. Thank you for every sister reading this publication. Lord, I want you to pour into her your power. A power that only you can provide. A power that allows her to push through to the other side of whatever circumstance she may be facing. Lord give her an “in spite of” strength, give her an open mind that she may be filled with wisdom as she walks through this experience. Lastly, Father grant her a heart filled with joy, for her soul knows the will of her life is anchored in your promises.
Amen

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

1 Corinthians 13:7

Imagine the characteristics of your "ideal" friend. It doesn't have to be romantic. Just consider some foundational traits of a type of person you'd be happy to have in your life. Would this person be trustworthy? Would they be optimistic and have faith in your dreams? Would they hold you accountable and protect you from situations that may cause you to go astray? Would this person value your relationship, time and loyalty?

Paul states in verse 7 that love ALWAYS protects, trusts, hopes and perseveres. Unlike the characteristics in previous verses, he uses adverb always. Its not just important to know what love does not do. Paul wants his audience to appreciate how love, loves. Paul uses the word always before protect, trust, hope, and persevere to exclaim that there is no room for negotiations. "To always" means at all times, at any rate and in any event. It is not situational, nor is it circumstantial. Paul wrote to an imperfect people asking that they exhibit perfect behavior. Why? Paul understood that the flesh was flawed; but if there was a standard to strive for, we as a people would not give up trying. We wouldn't succumb to the feeling of defeat , or tolerate failure. He knew that if challenged, we would attempt to perfect love and in turn ourselves.

Remember your "ideal" friend? Strive to become that person. Make an effort to express a love that always protects, trusts, hopes and perseveres. It won't always be without challenge. But remember, love is patient.
