Grace

Dear Lord,
I pray for every sister that is afraid to walk in your gracious light. I pray that whatever shadows are casting over her, you remove and let your light shine through her. Let her recognize that her dwelling place is in the favor of your kingdom. Allow her to reap fruit in dry places. May she seek you always no matter the circumstances in her life. Build in her a soul that is impenetrable to the weapons of this world.

Perseverance

Dear Lord,
I want to thank you. Thank you for every sister reading this publication. Lord, I want you to pour into her your power. A power that only you can provide. A power that allows her to push through to the other side of whatever circumstance she may be facing. Lord give her an “in spite of” strength, give her an open mind that she may be filled with wisdom as she walks through this experience. Lastly, Father grant her a heart filled with joy, for her soul knows the will of her life is anchored in your promises.

1 LOV3, Day 3- Love is not...

It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps not record of wrongs.

1 Corinthians 13:5


It's in our human nature to be selfish, it's what the flesh wants. When we feel as though we have been wronged, cheated or disrespected in some fashion we become angry. We humiliate and shame those responsible and embed deep within our hippocampus the details of the event (down to the day and hour). It shouldn't take the writings of Paul to clarify to us that these behaviors are not characteristics of love. Nevertheless, verse 5 of 1 Corinthians 13 is dedicated to doing just that.


I know, Paul does not know what we have been faced with. Times are different. That's is true. Times have changed. However, the characteristics of love remain unchanged, unconditional. God sent His precious, sinless son Jesus to Earth to serve as the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of a sin-filled world. His decision was rooted agape love . Agape love is God's unconditional love towards man. It is selfless love. God was well within His rights to keep a record of all of ours sins and hold us accountable. He could have shamed and embarrassed us for wronging Him through the commitment of ours sins. But He didn't. He doesn't. Instead our Father extends grace. The Creator of all, the one being that protects us, blesses us and continues love us beyond our faults extends grace to all that believe in Him. Who are we not to extend the same grace to others? We must choose to honor others and practice maintaining a mild temperament despite the countless times we are treated unjustly. You know the old adage, "forgive and forget". Easier said than done, but nevertheless it is the responsibility we have been charged with as believers. We must strive to practice agape love. Being selfless, slow to anger and quick to forgive those who have wronged us and wiping their slate clean just as God did for us.


For some, this task may present as more of a challenge than for others. Begin to take small steps by acknowledging any traits that contradict that of love. Anger, grievance, bitterness and greed are all characteristics that keep us from loving others the way that God loves us. Search your heart and ask God to rid it of those characteristics and pour into you that of kindness, patience, forgiveness and selflessness. Become intentional in your willingness to portray such behaviors.
